Nuestra Fuerza - Our Strength
SIUA(see-wa) Coffee & Imports, a family-owned and operated online retail business based in Monroe, North Carolina, takes pride in showcasing the art and craftsmanship of indigenous peoples in Michoacán, Mexico, particularly rooted in the Purépecha culture, as well as other parts of the country.
Siua, meaning café or coffee (caffea arabica) in the native
language of the Purépecha culture, was born out of our
deep respect for our pre-hispanic ancestors.
Our signature single-source coffee, Erandini, which
means dawn or daybreak, is an excellent way to
start your day.
Our house espresso, aptly named Akamba,
derives its name from the word maguey or agave.
This is the single most crucial ingredient in Mezcal,
an artisanal distilled spirit. Mezcal is primarily known
in the state of Oaxaca but also holds a significant place
in the culture of small towns across Michoacán.
Our ultimate objective is to establish a physical location that fosters
community connection and brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds. Our space will be a welcoming environment that promotes inclusivity and diversity, ensuring that everyone feels at home. We will provide open work and meeting spaces, as well as group or single-use private meeting rooms. The space will feature authentic Mexican art, including pottery, original and printed art, traditional Mexican culinary utensils, and textiles. Keep an eye out for original pieces.
